Smart phones: How many are in use and what are people doing with them?
Thanks to a new comScore study, we know that as of July 2010, 53.4 million Americans are using smart phones. That’s up 11% since April.
If adoption continues at that rate, we’re looking at around 60 million smart phone in use in the USA by the end of the year.
Blackberry (RIM) continues to lead the pack, with almost 40% of the installed based. But their lead is slipping a bit, with Google’s Android increasing by 5% during the same period.
Still, the point is that the pie is getting bigger.
Our other take-away is that the users are becoming more adept at using their phones. Web browsing is up the most in the “what do you do with your phone category,” followed by accessing social media sites and downloading apps.
What does that tell you?
